Our client: Serving an area twice as large as Delaware and almost as big as Connecticut, our client is home-grown in Alaska, owned by its member-owners. This position maintains and improves the organization’s electrical system with responsibility for relay, control and protection systems.  

Would you like to:

• Supervise daily activities of the Relay & Controls Dept
• Ensure industry standard compliance of relay, control, and protection systems
• Be responsible for all relay, control, and protection engineering functions of the organization
• Support distribution feeder protection coordination including fuser and recloser coordination
• Oversee development and commissioning of new relay, control and protection infrastructure for distribution, transmission, and generation facilities
• Support record retention systems related to relays, control and protection infrastructure
• Develop and ensure adherence to departmental annual budget
• Review and recommend operational and maintenance practices
• Assist with development and compliance of cyber and physical security and reliability standards for the organization
• Assist with assessment and development of Smart Grid technology

Ideally you have:

• BSc in electrical engineering
• Three years of experience with relays, controls, and protective systems in the electric utility industry
• Advanced knowledge of SEL products
• Working knowledge of IEEE, ANSI, RUS, NESC and NEC codes and standards
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Milsoft, ASPEN OneLiner, PSSE, MS Office (including MS Project, Adobe Acrobat)
• State of Alaska PE license, or ability to obtain within a year of hire
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

• One year of management experience
• Knowledge of SCADA and communication systems in transmission, distribution or substation facilities
