Our client:An Alaska Native Corporation is seeking a highly motivated and experienced person to lead the financial management responsibilities of the Corporation. The Chief Financial Officer role will be responsible for all financial management aspects of company operations. This individual will help set the vision and direction for the financial longevity of the Corporation. The CFO will report directly to the CEO, will interact with the Board of Directors and be a member of the senior leadership team. This person will balance a strong vision for the finance team with a hands-on approach to managing the financial operations of a dynamic Alaska Native Village Corporation. As a key member of the executive team a successful candidate must possess the characteristics to execute their duties while respecting the shareholders mission, vision and values. This role requires an individual that can navigate traditional values, shareholder relations, and clearly communicate to all stakeholders the value of business initiatives. Would you like to:
Develop and implement a plan for the finance team in alignment with the corporation’s strategic plan.
Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments and advise both the CEO and Board of Directors of risk mitigation options.
Manage the development of the annual budget for approval by CEO.
Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
Generate monthly financial statements and reports which analyze expenses, revenues, and the balance sheet.
Generate a monthly financial dashboard which accurately forecasts cash, revenue, and expenses.
Review and approve expenditures to ensure budget compliance and efficient use of funds.
Oversee corporate capitalization policies and application of depreciation to capital assets.
Coordinate and prepare for financial
Install procedures to improve efficiencies and reduce expenses where possible.
Strengthen internal financial management controls to protect financial assets.
Manage annual audit and serve as the liaison with the audit firm.
Prepare and manage all tax submissions to IRS and other state taxation entities.
Manage insurance policies for domestic and international programs, liability, directors and officers, and worker’s compensation; and negotiate annual renewal with vendor.
Update and maintain Financial Policies and Procedures.
Provide direction and supervision of the accounting department.
Provide support with HR and employee recruitment and retention
Ideally you have:
Understanding of production data and royalties
Investment portfolio management
Vision for investment diversification
Experience reporting financial information to boards of directors
Experience leading audit preparation.
Experience leading fiscal year planning.
Experience budget planning and with strategic analysis.
Experience with administration of insurance and retirement plan.
History of success and leadership in finance, and strategic planning experience.
Ability to develop team-wide vision and direction for a portfolio of diverse projects.
Strong working knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR’s)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; communicating to all levels within an organization.
